We have a position to fill within our South Lakes based web sales facility. This is located just south of Kendal, on the outskirts of the scenic little village of Sandside, which itself sits on the southern edge of the Kent estuary. Rock + Run is set in an ideal spot for all manner of outdoor activities, with the calciferous crags, hillsides and woodland of the South Lakes making lunch time run’s and evening climbing sessions an easy undertaking.

The Role
Rock + Run has specialized in retailing equipment and clothing for serious mountain enthusiasts since 1983, and our reputation for customer service and efficiency in this field is renowned throughout the outdoor retail industry. In line with this, the successful applicant would ideally have the following attributes:

• Good customer service skills, being able to communicate clearly and efficiently both face-to-face and remotely (phone & email).
• A good base level of IT skills.
• Self motivation.
• Be a keen and regular protagonist of at least one of the following activities: rock climbing, ice climbing, mountaineering, off road running and mountain walking (the occasional valley stroll and/or walking the dog does not constitute mountain walking).
• Experience working in the outdoor industry would be an advantage.

Whilst the role is potentially quite flexible and there is the possibility, to some extent, of suiting the position to the skills of the successful applicant, the following daily duties are likely to be included on some level:  

• Answering emails and telephone calls promptly, and concluding the subject matter efficiently to a point which is mutually acceptable for both the customer and the company.
• Managing print runs of orders to meet dispatch deadlines.
• Administrating returns promptly and efficiently.
• Ensuring all warranty returns are brought to the attention of the appropriate party.
• Helping to ensure all goods-in deliveries are processed, booked-in and placed in the correct picking zone within the warehouse.
• Basic editing and creation of website content.

As our business model has evolved over the last few years, to a predominantly web based retailer, we have made considerable strides in improving the content/media side of our web presence, and have a partner website dedicated entirely to this end - info.rockrun.com. As such, sourcing and generating media content is now an extremely important part of our daily routine, so those with an enthusiasm for writing - product descriptions, product reviews and destination/equipment articles - would be at a considerable advantage. A successful applicant who had demonstrated skills in this field would be enthusiastically encouraged to further these attributes, and in this case we would consider minimizing some of the other general day-to-day tasks within the basic role, to help you further your potential in this area.

Contract & Salary
We are offering a full-time contract, incorporating an initial 6 month trial period. The role would be available to start immediately, Monday to Friday, 8.45am – 5.00pm. Depending on experience and skills; salary will range
from £11k to £15k.

Part-Time, perhaps…
If the right sort of person came along, and their available schedule to work fitted in with our busiest periods, we would also consider filling the role as a part-time position. Working hours and salary would have to be negotiated to suit both parties.
