NORTHERN LIMESTONE
by Alan James, Chris Craggs and Mark Glaister
Published July 2004
Northern Limestone is the most comprehensive guide ever published to limestone in England - weighing in at 384 pages and covering every major limestone crag between Dove Dale in the south, and Chapel Head Scar in the north. With over 2500 routes described in detail, this book will keep any ardent climber busy for years. The format is the similar to that used in the well-received Peak Gritstone East and the Western Grit volumes.
The Peak section gives trad routes and sport routes equal coverage with locations like Harpur Hill and Horseshoe quarries sitting alongside places like Aldery Cliff, High Tor, Harborough Rocks and Beeston Tor. In Yorkshire and Cumbria the emphasis is more on sport routes although plenty of trad routes are also included at the crags covered.
