Loading... Please wait...The Boreal Joker is one of the absolutely classic shoes in the entry level and all day comfort genre. Apart from its even more plush cousin, the Joker Plus, no other shoe offers such great out of the box comfort and this is probably the secret behind its success. The Joker has a relatively high volume fit and is well suited to climbers with a broad or high volume foot. An EVA insert concealed in the heel provides some cushioning for descents as well as a small measure of protection from falls whilst bouldering.
Comfort and convenience. Performance and protection - the Joker has it all, and does it all - from the climbing wall to extended bouldering circuits and multi-pitch classics in-between.
Despite its supreme comfort the Joker is quite a soft shoe and may not offer enough support for absolute beginners who have not yet developed their foot strength. Such climbers may be better off considering the Boreal Silex with its stiffer sole and greater degree of support.

The Boreal Joker is a great entry level shoe that is equally as happy in the gym, as it is bouldering or trad climbing. These shoes are exceptionally comfy with a thick padded tongue, and very supple leather that does stretch a bit over time. The padded heel is great for when belaying or when you take a high fall from bouldering. The rubber on the shoe is very thick and gives real confidence even on the smallest holds. The only downside to this shoe is that the rubber wears out pretty quickly.

I have just started climbing and was looking for a shoe that would be reasonably comfortable while still performing on indoor and outdoor walls. This pair of shoes is great. They are very comfortable, even when worn for extended periods. Rubber sticks well and seems fairly durable too. An instructor I had at a climbing course also recommended these shoes and used them himself for all but the most technical climbing. A great pair of shoes for beginners use or for longer days climbing where comfort is a factor. Very happy with my purchase.

These were my second set of climbing shoe. I’ve worn them indoor and out and I am very happy with them. They are comfy, which is good. They are keeping up with my improvement in footwork but I would be tempted to buy a more aggressive pair for hard bouldering. For all day use these are perfect especially at the price. The rubber lasts better than evolve but not as good as five ten. I’d say buy these as a first pair of shoes then use them for all day climbing when you get better.
