Loading... Please wait...The Silex is based on the last of the Boreal classic the 'Joker' but stiffened up to offer maximum support on big routes and all day use. Perfect for everything from visits to the local climbing wall or a day in the mountains to a circuit bouldering session with friends. Due to its increased stiffness the Silex may actually be a better bet for novices than the Joker, due to the greater amount of support given to feet unaccustomed to the strain of climbing.
The Boreal Silex gives a precise fit due to the speed lacing system; superior comfort via the EVA anti-shock heel and maximum breathability through the well vented upper.
Overall another great and very well made shoe from Boreal that will be the perfect match for many a British climber's varied requirements from their rock shoes.

I bought a pair of these as all-day comfies. They certainly feel solid and are very comfortable assuming you get the right size!
In use, they are great for edging (and even torquing, if that's your thing), but if your all-day route involves anything delicate you might be out of luck. The sole is stiff and unresponsive. (On the flip side, descents will be a dream.)
