Ed Douglas writing about Peak Gritstone East Climber Magazine - Feb 2002
Ed Douglas's praise for the award-winning Peak Gritstone East was well-merited at the time but we now think that he may have been wrong. Five years later and it is time for a new edition to cover the majestic crags of the eastern gritstone edges and in our opinion this one is even better than its predecessor.
This guide contains all the style and elegance that made Peak Gritstone East such a popular guidebook but we have refined the look added more usability and most importantly added over 100 more pages packed with nearly 900 more routes. That's 2950 of the best routes in the Peak!

This guidebook is the must have for all living in the Lancashire-Yorkshire boundary area. Its coverage is great. From Lancashire to the Chew Valley this guidebook represents great value for money, not only because it is so simple to use but because it offers so much variety in rock type, styles and grades. On top of this, the classic Rockfax topo is as always easy to read, use and understand at a glance, with clear symbols and structure. This is the must have guidebook for the Eastern Grit Area!

Stanage, Burbage, Millstone, Froggatt, Curbar... these are the great edges of British climbing. This book covers some of the best climbing in Britain and it doesn't disappoint.
Topos are superbly clear, descriptions always excellent with a few historical details to put the routes into context. The photography is awesome and inspiring.
Grading is quite consistent, although of course there will always be disagreements!
The only thing I don't like about this guidebook is the number of adverts at the front and back. Given the cost of the book I would prefer not to have so many pages taken up like this.
