Loading... Please wait...The Edelrid Typhoon is a bit of a new boy on the Rock and Run rock boot shelf, but it has already proved itself a great shoe in the performance all-rounder catagory.
It's safe to say that we've thrown the Typhoon at pretty much every style of climbing, and with the exception of the very steepest roofs and the smeariest of slabs the Typhoon has come up trumps. A fairly stiff midsole for a velcro shoe combined with a slightly toe down shape mean the Typhoon edges very well, and yet remains sensitive and precise. The heel is another strong point, we found there to be very little dead space even from new. The fit overall is fairly high volume and should be good for those with a wide forefoot.
If you're after a genuine do-anything shoe in the mid to high grades then the Typhoon is a worthy contender to both the Anasazi Velcro and La Sportiva Miura in the catagory.

Bought these based on some feedback from a friend and the review on rockrun's info site, as a replacement for my faithful Five Ten Anasazi's, which have just died. Wouldn't have gone for the Typhoon's if it hadn't been for the price rise in Five Tens, but in the end I'm glad I did! Awesome shoes which climb well, hold their shape and come in at a competitive price. The heel is particularly good, and perhaps even better the the Anasazi heel. The rubber seems decent too, although I do keep half expecting it to fail, just because it isn't Stealth, but so far my fears have been unfounded. Good effort Edelrid, I will be back for more...
