The Camp 4 Shoe by Five Ten is a rugged multi-purpose/approach shoe with an external heel cage for added rear-foot support and stability - the Camp 4 is a premier approach shoe! It is light enough for everyday wear but extremely rugged and designed as an alternative to heavier, clumsy hiking boots.

The Camp 4 features the new proprietary technology a molded PU external heel cage that adds rear-foot support and stability, allowing you to hump heavy loads for long distances without the need for a high-top boot! This extremely stable, secure shoe has a lace to toe closure that can be worn relaxed for a long-distance fit or tightened for climbing and scrambling. Co-molded Stealth C4/S1 high-friction soles provide the world's best friction on any terrain.

A great approach shoe out of the box and, as per the other 5.10 approach shoes, brilliant grip even on wet rock! They also last pretty well.
Possibly the best approach shoes in the world...

Out of all my climbing gear these are probably one of my best buys. To describe them in one word - brilliant. They are really comfy, hard-wearing with super sticky soles. They fit me perfectly, extremely comfortable with great support.

The Stealth C4 soles handle just about any terrain I’ve come across. I find them brilliant as approach shoes, for scrambling, running and low grade climbing. I’m now on my second pair after finally having to retire my original pair. I had them for over two years before I wore the soles down after heavy use around the Peak District, Wales, El Chorro and even in the Alps – they performed brilliantly and which is why when the time came to replace them I went straight out and bought the same again.

I bought these on the back of very good reviews, especially in the US. I wanted some approach shoes in between fell running shoes and lightweight walking boots, for walking and scrambling in dry(ish) weather. The Camp 4 have fitted the bill perfectly. They have been comfortable from the start, and provide more support to the foot and ankle than fell running shoes. I tried them out scrambling on Tryfan North Ridge and they were great, with the sticky rubber helping friction on the rock and the suede uppers withstanding scrapes. I would normally wear boots for scrambling but I found it so liberating to wear the Camp 4 that I'll only ever go back to boots when the weather's wet. All in all I strongly recommend these!
