Product Description

The ever-popular Five Ten Guide Tennie.

This shoe can hike 10 miles into a climb then ascend a 5.10 route (or better yet a thousand feet of fourth-classing). 5.10 have studied previous versions of the classic "Guide shoes" and have created a new GT that's better fitting, better performing and better looking than ever. Just don't expect too much traction on a wet, muddy path half way up Scafell Pike!

  1. OK on rock... but nothing else!

Posted by Hobbs on 20th Mar 2012

These are comfortable climbing or scrambling shoes in my opinion. The tread and support offered is minimal and thus they are awful on typical uk paths or approaches. If its muddy you may as well throw yourself on the ground when you get out of the car and save yourself some grief later LOL! Seriously though, great for scrambling but not for walking.

  2. Rock shoe performance with approach shoe comfort

Posted by Kane Chandler on 10th Sep 2010

I've used a pair of Guide Tennies on approaches, scrambles, big walls and as a pair of casual everyday shoes.

On easy rock they perform very well as they use 5.10s super sticky stealth rubber. This rubber is also soft though and soon wore through after wearing the shoes for everyday purposes.

As approach shoes they are great when the ground is rocky or dry but they struggle in the wet because they don't have much tread.

Fantastic for big walling. Comfy enough to aid in all day and technical enough to free easy pitches without having to change into rock shoes.

Although they're not the most robust shoe around they are great for anyone who wants a comfy approach shoe that also climbs really well.
