Five Ten's stiffest shoe with a supportive sole designed for cracks, slabs and all-day multi-pitch routes. The Newton is the absolute Daddy of the long route shoe world. The down to the toe lacing ensures that these shoes will accommodate as wide a range of foot shapes as any rockboot. Once on your feet these shoes are supremely comfortable -  the plush lining and S shaped lacing envelop the foot superbly so that your foot still feels solid within the shoe. The laces can be loosened off for easier ground and then cranked up tight if greater edging ability is needed. Either way the stiff sole and (relatively) high top means that the heel will stay firmly in place.

Don't think this level of comfort means that the Newton can't perform however. Not surprisingly for such a stiff shoe the Newton is an edging and crack climbing machine. So, if alpine rock, or long multi pitch routes are your thing, and you want a shoe that can still pull out the stops on harder ground then the Newton should be very high on your shopping list.
