Loading... Please wait...The Garmont Dragontail LT is a superb lightweight approach shoe that offers up maximum support and load carrying stability whilst keeping weight to an absolute minimum. As with its beefier brother, the Dragontail MNT, this shoe has a really supportive ankle – great if you’re carrying a big pack.
Down-to-toe lacing and a low profile sole make the Dragontail LT as well suited to easy climbs and scrambles as it is to approaches. This should make it a great choice for guides and instructors looking for an all day shoe.

Sizing
As with all shoes with laces that run down to the toe we recommend that you slacken off the laces fully before trying the shoe on, or it is likely to feel too narrow. That said the Dragontail is sized to offer a fairly precision fit similar to that of a climbing shoe. If you’d prefer a slacker fit then you may have to go up half a size compared to your normal street shoe size.

Having owned several different brands of approach/scrambling boots i had yet to find something suited my needs until i saw someone wearing the GARMONT Dragontail LT. On my return from the lakes i looked these up straight away and came across Rock + Run. I ordered them and they came the following day. What a cracking piece of footwear, i used them recently on the early stages of a multi pitch VDiff and they are outstanding. They have really stiff soles which gave me the confidence when on the edges of the shoe. The lacing system is ideal for those who need a little extra support and could fit most foot shapes. The quality is bomb proof and the rubber edging all around combined with the Vibram sole make this a fantastic option for scramblers and those with an appetite for a little more adventure.
The look goes without saying! i will definitely get another pairs when these wear out however i don think that will be anytime soon. It does say get half size bigger than normal however im a UK 10 and would next time purchase a 10 for that slightly closer fit for the rocks. If you intend to use these as everyday/outdoor footwear then a half size bigger wont do you any harm, 10 out of 10 for me!

Despite being an LT version it still feels more robust and solid than most other approach shoes. Nice thick leather and the rubber band around is fantastic. Sole is relatively stiff and the thread is not too deep - possibly could be deeper for some ground conditions. Very comfortable, even as an everyday shoe. Recommended.
