Product Description

A classic 12 point crampon designed for general mountaineering, mixed ice and rock climbing, and less extreme waterfall climbing situations. The entire G12 crampon is manufactured from Chromoly steel using new technology which is exclusive to Grivel at this time. Called "3 Dimensional Relief Stamping (3DRS)", this process increases the strength and rigidity, not only of the crampon's frame, but of each individual point as well.

Four "anti-shear" points, perpendicular to the line of the boot, improve security during descents. The crampons are fully adjustable by hand, without tools and one size fits all. G12 is easily collapsed for transportation.

By placing a bolt (included) through the front of the arch piece, it will remain centered, reducing the overall length of the collapsed crampon. In addition, the entire adjustment mechanism may be replaced with a simple nut and bolt; while this reduces weight, future length adjustments will require tools.

The ratio between quality, strength and weight is quite impressive; G12 is a true all purpose crampon. It represents the State of the Art in production - the result of 70 years of experience in design and manufacturing.

Excellent Winter walking & Alpine Crampon

The Grivel G12's are a fantastic all round winter walking, climbing and alpine crampon. They are lightweight, extremely easy to adjust for size- just click and move the T-bar with no tools needed. They flex well enough so that a whole day winter or alpine walking can be comfortable but are rigid enough on the frontpoints to allow mixed climbing up to about Scottish grade V or Alpine D. O

bviously they are not designed for pure mixed climbing as once you begin to increase your winter climbing grade the secondary front point become a serious hindrance when slotting frontpoints into small cracks or ledges.

However as an all round crampon you couln't do better and although I upgraded to more aggresive crampons for hard winter climbing I still kept my G12's for everything else.

This crampon is brilliant, a true all rounder. It feels stable on steep ice up to grade 4 and easy to walk in. After use in an alpine environment it proved lightweight enough to keep in the rucksack ready to make the glacier decent easier.

The fastening system is easy to use although the front plastic strap could maybe get brittle in the extreme cold. However the pro of having the plastic strap is easy fitting onto b2 boots without the front lip.The front points do look small but are great for lower end steep ice!

My scarpa charmoz grivel g12 combo has been brilliant and proved to be a winner every time.
