It covers the superb venue of Rjukan which has become well known across Europe in recent years for its magnificent waterfalls which give a high concentration of ice climbs of all difficulties. The waterfalls vary from short half-pitch exercises to long (800m) full day outings and most are easily reached by short approach walks. The main valley is sheltered from the sun most of the winter and offers stable cold climate in the winter months with many options for accommodation.

I'm currently working as a guide and instructor in Rjukan, and I find this guidebook invaluable for planning days out and choosing routes. The directions are clear and concise, and the photo topos predominantly excellent. Of course it is possible to get by without it, and waterfalls still need to be assessed from the ground to gauge difficulty and boldness, but you'll probably get more out of a trip here with this book. As a word of caution however, a few of the waterfalls are graded so wildly out, even accounting for changes from year to year, that the author definitely has not climbed them.
