*Apologies for the prices of these guides, the recent Euro/Swiss Franc exchange rates have made it extremely hard to keep the prices of many northern European guides inline with the usual British guide rates.
The one volume Hot Ice - Eiskletterführer (Ice Climbing) for Switzerland is now split into two bands - East & West. Each book in itself, covering individually over 400 pages, is far larger than the original volume. In German, but with clear maps, diagrams etc.
Both the new guides give a modern concise layout, utilizing both photo-topo and (pretty techy) crag diagrams, whilst the whole guide is interspersed with plenty of good action images. In the band West the following areas are thoroughly covered:

This book contains no proper descriptions of where to find any of the ice it has pictures of. "Walk a combination of forest and fields. The waterfall is about 30 minutes west-ish of X train station. If there is no ice you can find more near station Y" was the description for a waterfall 40 minutes north of the trainstation, and Y was 30 minutes south of it. No scetches of the areas, no maps, two sentence description of anything in a 10km radius. This is the entire book.
If you don't want to spend most of the day finding your ice, just don't get this book.
