Product Description

The La Sportiva Trango S Evolution GTX is the successor to the famous Trango S model from La Sportiva. It features a Gore-Tex membrane that guarantees waterproofness and breathability. The Trango S Evo is a modern multi-purpose lightweight boot ideal for via ferrata, mountaineering, alpine climbing and hiking. Its main characteristic is its very low weight that has been reached thanks to the usage of innovative high performance materials.

The lacing system is derived from climbing shoe technology with the addition of a lace lock that allows double tension. The innovative '3D Flex' ankle provides lock-out power for front pointing in crampons, kicking steps in snow or standing on small edges when rock climbing all the while remaining flexible from side-to-side for efficient flat-footing (French) technique on hard frozen snow and soft alpine ice.

Featuring a full rubber rand that is higher on the areas of high abrasion and is double thickness at the toe box. The sole unit is comprised of a 7mm Trailflex insole with a Dual-density Micropore midsole that provides the perfect combination of step-kicking rigidity, or pack full-of-gear stability and twenty-mile, 4000' ascent cushioning. The excellent Vibram Mulaz sole has a flat 'Climbing Zone' platform around the toe for technical rock climbing performance.

  1. great summer alpine/ via ferrata boot

Posted by wayne m on 10th Sep 2010

Well worth the price tag. I have used this boot in the Alps, Dolomites, Pyrenees and UK without any problems. The stiff sole and articulated ankle allow precise footwork when climbing compared to a more traditional mountain boot making it well suited to more technical routes. I have also used them for wet day slogs around Snowdonia and the Lake District and my only niggle is that the ankle flexibility comes at the expense of a little support, but then you can't have it both ways can you?
