SuperFly can mean ultra light and compact; here it means super-versatile too. This Multi-Mount, top-of-the-line backpacking stove works with just about any kind of butane canister you can hook up to it - that comes in handy while adventuring in the most remote places. Because it's designed to go big while remaining fast-and-light, the features found in the SuperFly can take on multi-day backpacking trips to easy hikes. Take the precise flame control that enables you to simmer or boil with the turn of a knob. Well thought-out details include controls that work with cold, gloved hands, serrated legs that grip pots, and a burner that re-lights itself when partially blown out, even in extreme wind. And, of course, its straight-forward ease of use.

MSR Superfly Stove

I got this as a replacement for an old style stove – one which you pushed on and pierced the gas canister. There really is no comparison between these two stoves and this product made by MSR really feels state-of-the-art. First of all the build is a perfect compromise between strength and weight – it weighs a mere 140g but I'm sure it will stand up to years of use and abuse. As long as the gas canister isn't a ‘pierce one’ then it works on it (in my experience) which would make it a great stove for backpacking as you don't continually have to look for a specific type. You are able to control the flame on the stove very easily through a handle/knob that folds out enabling you to easily control between boiling and simmering. Furthermore the stove creates a really stable base for pots and pans which also fold away saving space when not in use. The stove also is very easy to light and has never yet been blown out by the wind.
I have absolutely no idea by which you could improve this product apart from the slight problem is that it doesn't fit on to pierce only canisters. Still I would highly recommend this stove not only for backpacking but the weight of it also means it is perfect for mountaineering and any other outdoor activities.

I bought this stove a good few years ago for camping in the UK and trips to Europe; it has been a great buy and is still going strong! The main benefit is its universal attachment — any standard gas canister with a lip on it will work with this stove. The attachment slides on sideways and screws tight for a nice secure fit; it worked great with any branded canister I've tried so far.
Another great plus is how compact it is. When not in use the pot supports all rotate around the head to sit together very neatly, removing the spiky bulk. It happily fits in my pocket without the gas attached. The supports when fully open grip pots and pans better than many stoves I've used, but as with most canister mounted stoves the stability depends on the size canister you're using!
The flame control is nice and precise too, with the wire dial folding away neatly when not in use.
I've got other stoves, but this is the one I reach for on a standard trip. (Mine came with a cool canvas carry bag with drawstring to keep it safe. Not sure if it still does?)

The MSR Superfly stove is a compact and super light canister stove which is designed to work with a variety of self sealing fuel canisters. The stove works very well, it’s exceptionally easy to set up and very easy to carry. One of the best features of the stove is that it can adapt to pretty much any fuel canister, so if you can’t buy the canister in the picture don’t worry. Another good feature of this stove is that it works very well with large pots as it gives a very good flame distribution.
