It's just the right size to decrease weight without loosing the durability that you need for everyday use. Mammut gave the Galaxy a middle mark for quick and easy rappels and ultrasonic-sealed rope ends to completely prevent sheath slippage. Strong enough to stand up to the abuse of sport climbing and light enough for long alpine routes, the Galaxy is a truly versatile rope.

This was the first rope I owned, bought as a 'do everything' rope. It is extremely durable, and thus ideal as a wall rope, or for sport climbing where repeated falls are expected. I used it for trad as well, but felt on occasion that it was a little too heavy. It is ideal for a beginner, as it is certainly not slick through a belay plate - some may see this as a disadvantage. Compared to my ice-lines, it was awkward to manage, but confidence inspiring.
The superdry treatment works as it should in winter, and is certainly worth paying for.
In all, a good choice as a first rope, or if you know your rope will see hard or frequent usage. Perhaps for those climbing at a high level, a lighter, slicker rope may be preferable.
