Whilst the holds themselves are predominantly simple slots, there is plenty of variety in the depth and they are of different angles, though none are that sloped. This large number holds and the similarities between them clearly show a progressive series of steps in developing finger strength.
The slight arc of the board and the taper from top to bottom ensure that you have good forearm clearance when hanging on and doing pull-ups. The curve also puts your arms in a more comfortable and natural position, meaning that it is your fingers that get the work out rather than tiring out your arms/wrists by having been forced to hold awkward positions. The Metolius Fingerboards a pretty skin friendly as they are fairy smooth in texture, so long training sessions should not be an issue.
The Holds:
All these holds vary from half a finger pad right through to 2 finger pads in depth. The pockets and egdes have a variety of angles, but are predominatly flat or positive. As such this board will be suitable for everyone bar the highest level of abilities.

I have had one of these at my office for a while, I bought it because the beastmaker was out of stock and I used to have the old model. While it is a step on from the original its really not as good as the beastmaker, I have one of these at home and I have to say the wood and the monos do set it apart from this. The contour is nice though, and the texture does tough the hands up a bit! Its good value and there is enough there to keep you going for a long long time, they are also exceptionally durable too!
