  1. The best training DVD

Posted by N Holbrook on 14th May 2011

These training DVD's are an excellent way to be introduced to climbing techniques. They are pitched at the perfect level for a beginner or for someone wanting to improve their grades beyond around 6a. There is of course stuff to learn for more experienced climbers too, but you may not want to watch a whole DVD to pick up only a couple of things. Compared to other climbing training DVD's, this is very well structured and videos are shown comparing good and bad technique.

  2. First DVD better than the second from beginners point of view.

Posted by Mark Snowdon on 12th May 2011

I found the first volume very helpful and I thought that it did live up to the title, giving real examples and demos of climbing techniques.

By contrast the second disk has a lot more watching people climb and talking hard things. Maybe that is more useful to the more experienced climbers, but to me it seemed to be taking a long time to talk about quite straightforward stuff (stamina, strength, pacing etc.) without giving me very much that I could apply to my own climbing.

As such, I'd recommend the first DVD but I was disappointed by the second.
