Loading... Please wait...The BUG was designed specifically for multipitch, long routes that are done in a single day. Its rounded rectangular shape maximizes volume and minimizes interference while in use. It also makes a great bouldering pack.
The volume of the BUG is ideal for carrying gear on the approach and when climbing (hydration system, guidebook/topo, clothing, shoes, etc). Everything has been designed for maximum comfort while climbing with the BUG on the back: minimal bulk, shoulder straps allowing freedom of arm movement, comfortable and ventilated back panel, foldaway waistbelt, high positioning allows access to back of harness(for chalkbag, gear) and lateral compression straps.

Being a snazzy French design the Bug has probably been designed with the sport climber in mind. For this use, providing you don't wish to take 5 courses of lunch with you, it should be big enough to get all of your gear to the crag, and then climb the route with. For the average trad climber the Bug is clearly too small to get all your kit in on the approach. That said it's great on multi-pitch routes for carrying food and water, shoes and some spare clothes whilst on the route - I must admit I can't see why you'd need a rain cover for this purpose?

Great idea but the reality is this bag is too small for what its for. If you're cragging for a day you don't need a bag you can climb with, at most you need a rain cover (which it doesn't have). If you want to carry stuff while doing multi-pitch then its too small for everything you bring on the walk in. It hasn't space for gear, waterproof, food and water, you'd have to bring another bag. So while it looks like a great product, its not actually right for multipitch. It a very cool crag bag for a dry day, but its not practical for a day out on long routes.

Really useful bag for a day at the crag and for longer routes. Fits all the necessaries in (though not the best if you like to pack for all eventualities) and the compression straps keep it nice and slim line. Also sits nice and high on the back for multi-pitch routes, out of the way of the back of the harness when you need to grab that vital bit of gear, and the chalk bag when you need a quick dip. The shoulder straps and waistband also do a great job of keeping it in place on your back.
All in all a very useful little pack, great for multi-pitch routes and those that travel light.

This is the perfect rucksack for a multi-pitch climb. It is just the right size to carry everything you could need to stay safe and have fun. It is a very well designed bag because it sits very neatly above the waist so that it doesn’t interfere with your harness and your climbing. This coupled with the great size, flexibility and ease of use of the bag makes it the perfect pack for the job. Overall score is 8 out of 10!
