The Duo LED 5 Headlamp by Petzl is a waterproof hybrid headlamp. The Duo LED 5 has one halogen lamp and 5 LED bulbs. This special purpose headlamp is durable and powerful. It is perfect for situations where lots of light ruggedness are needed and is waterproof down to -5 meters.

Tough as Old Boots

I’ve had one of these for a number of years and it has taken some abuse but continues to work perfectly. It is quite bulky and a little heavy so is probably not the torch for walking to the pub with but for caving and mountaineering this is my first choice. The LED flood is ideal for 90% of use giving good battery life and a wide beam but the halogen spot light comes into its own when trying to pick out distant features while navigating. The switches are easy to operate while wearing gloves and the power/ change over switch has a locking mechanism meaning it won’t turn on in your bag and be flat when it is needed most. If you want a reliable light that you can bash into rocks and dunk under water without worrying about it this is the torch for you.
