Loading... Please wait...The Petzl Shunt is a rope jamming device which replaces a self-jamming knot such as a Prusik knot.
Positioned below a descender, the Shunt acts as a back-up belay for an abseil descent. It locks onto the rope as soon as you release it and follows your descent when you press on it.
Advantages:
The Shunt gives you an additional safety system when descending by backing up the descender. Pull it down the rope to descend, when released it will jam.
The SHUNT can also be used for ascending. It may be used on single rope (10-11 mm) or double rope (8-11 mm).

Hi,
I've used these on a professional basis, they are ok for that but only really as a back up, I certainly would not use these for solo climbing. As a hauling device and also as a back up, they are fantastic but not for soloing, take a partner instead! I found that if you panic and grab for it as you fall it keeps on letting rope through which is most worrying! I would prefer to use a silent partner for soloing, I know its more expensive but it is your life!
