A burly, bombproof, rope protector made by us in our Aviemore workshop.

Constructed in two sections with 1000 denier nylon outer fabric and a heavy vinyl lining. The coarse weave outer fabric provide friction and reduces slippage on the rope during use. The vinyl offers a smooth lining and some adhesion to the rope. The two fabrics combined are incredibly strong and will resist repeated abuse on the roughest rock.

The rope protector is secured on a rope with a 4mm lanyard at the top which simply loops around the rope several times (5 or 6 turns) and clips back into the D ring. On continuously steep walls use more turns of the lanyard to keep the knot close to the protector; this is important if you ascend the rope, and allows you to reach past the rope protector and slide it up the rope, in turn allowing the ascenders to be moved up past the edge of the face.
