Product Description

This fine boot from Scarpa replaces the extremely popular Phantom Lite, and does a good job of improving on an already great design.

The new Phantom Guide is a truly superb winter boot which when first experienced offers an unbeleivable, trainer like level of comfort. Fit wise the heel is well defined and the ankle fairly snug. The toe box is broader than that of the Phantom Lite and should give enough room for even the most flipper like of feet! The ankle offers a happy medium in terms of support, being stiff enough for ice climbing and yet offers enough flexibilty for fancy footwork on mixed ground.

Despite being very light for its function, the boots keeps feet warm in all but the worst of weather thanks to the use of a multilayered upper, which utilizes various combinations of materials between gaiter, shell upper, insulating materials and inner boot, which combine to make for an almost impenetrable shield against the elements.  The new Total Traction Vibram sole unit maximizes grip performance and increases cushioning.

According to Scarpa, “The most innovative must for those seeking a technical boot for Scottish winter, winter alpinism, ice, mixed and classical mountaineering.” And we wouldn’t dispute that statement.

Suitable for use with all crampon binding styles, bar the GSB system.

  1. Good boot but minor breakage – Rating 4

Posted by Colin Peck22nd Mar 2012

Purchased these boots as I found the best price on the net here...

However the first day of a trip, I went to lace them up the pull tab on the laces broke off. Luckily I was still able to climb in them on my trip. I was realy happy with the climbing performance of the boot. Upon returning, I raised the problem with Rock and Run and they were happy to replace the tab, a process which is currently being undertaken.

Happy with the service and boots.
