If, like me, you live south of the border, it's difficult to justify stumping up for a set of definitive SMC guides. Particularly if you're not gnarly enough for winter. Scottish Rock Climbs would appear to be the answer.
For the most part, it is, but on occasion the strains of shoehorning so much in begins to show, and compression of route descriptions becomes a problem (The Chasm is described in a single paragraph - all 450m of it).
Also notable by its absence is any mention of the Cuillin Ridge. A couple of pages on route finding and logistics would have also been welcome.
But these are minor niggles. On the plus side, the production quality is excellent. Photo-topos and colour approach maps abound, and even frequent visitors will struggle to run out of rock to tick.
